Breaking the Myths
Underfloor heating is very expensive to install.
FACT: Underfloor heating costs maybe slightly more to install than a similar radiator system. However, the running costs can be significantly lower that a traditional radiator system. Prices will vary because of the size of the project and the type of floor coverings but a reasonable approximate figure to go by would be £30.00 per m².

FACT: Untrue. Your decision would be the same whether you had underfloor heating or a radiator system.
Underfloor heating will burn my feet or make my feet ache.
FACT: This may have been true with early systems where electric elements were embedded in a concrete slab but absolutely not today. Many systems today use water, the temperature of which can be controlled very accurately.
It will disrupt my schedule of works if I try to have underfloor heating installed.
FACT: Because we would be involved from conception to completion we would schedule the installation after liaising with other contractors on site.

FACT: Thermo-Floors heating system is compatible with most floor build ups, floor designs and floor finishes on any floor level,
The pipes will leak under the floor and I won’t know until it’s too late.
FACT: Not only does our pipework carry a 50 year guarantee with a 10 year consequential loss guarantee(subject to terms and conditions) but as we only use continuous pipe runs with no joins, there would be virtually no risk of the pipes leaking.
I don’t believe that underfloor heating works.
FACT: Underfloor heating has been used as far back as Roman times. Thermo-Floor has been installing successfully for over 20 years so the answer to this is, yes it works!
You can’t control an underfloor heating system.
FACT: Each room with underfloor heating has its own control circuit. This means you can have your bathroom at 22ºC and your hallway at 18ºC and once set it works automatically so you don’t have to worry about changing controls whenever the weather changes outside.
I want to go green and get a heat pump for my radiators.
FACT: If you want to use a heat pump you may have to opt for underfloor heating. The reason for this is that traditional radiators run with a much higher water temperature which heat pumps cannot maintain efficiently at present.
