Is underfloor heating a more expensive option to conventional radiators?
Generally, underfloor heating is more expensive to install but when you take into consideration the lower running costs, personal comfort and value it will add to the property then the initial expense is worth it.
If I have water under my floor to heat the room, what happens if there is a leak?
Thermo-Floor installs continuous pipe work under the floor so there is no chance of a leak unless damaged by a second party. The system is pressure tested before the floor finish is laid.
Can I have underfloor heating downstairs and radiators upstairs?
Yes. Thermo-floor’s system will allow hot water to go to the radiators/ towel rails whilst sending warm water to the underfloor heating system.
Do you have to leave the underfloor heating on all of the time?
No. Provided with our system are controls that give you the choice of when you want the heating on/off.
I have a listed/old building, can I have underfloor heating?
Thermo-Floor’ s underfloor heating would be ideal in these buildings though floors would need to be adjusted to accommodate the system.
Can you have different rooms holding different temperatures?
Yes. With the Thermo-Floor system you can have athermostat controlling each room’s temperature.
Does laminate flooring get hot with underfloor heating?
No. The temperature is regulated so as it warms up and reaches the required temperature it will stop heating and begin to cool. This keeps a constant temperature.
Do I have to have insulation under the underfloor heating?
It is not essential and people have installed on un-insulated concrete floors to good effect. However, suitable insulation will:

- � � � reduce the time that the underfloor heating takes to warm up
- � � reduce running costs
What floor coverings can I use if I have underfloor heating?
Most types of floor coverings, e.g. carpet, laminate, hardwood, tiles, stone, can be used. If carpet is laid then the carpet and underlay should not exceed a combined Tog value of 1.5.
