Thermo-Floor acquired by Dutch Giant!
Thursday 28 August, 2008
One of the UK’s most reputable under-floor heating specialists has been snapped up by WTH Floor Heating & Cooling Systems, one of Europe’s market leaders.
Thermo-Floor have been suppliers of the WTH heating systems since they first launched in 1986. Since then, the relationship has flourished dramatically which has led to the take-over.
Based in Dordrecht in Holland and with offices throughout the Netherlands, WTH are no newcomers to the under-floor heating business having themselves been trading over 30 years. They now have more than 150 employees and are part of the multi-billion pound ‘TBI Holdings BV’ in Rotterdam.
Rob Heuperman, Director of WTH said, “Thermo-Floor have used the WTH heating system for many years now and we’ve been impressed by their continued growth in the UK market place. They have an excellent reputation and we see this as a fantastic opportunity to expand our core business even further and consolidate our position as European market leader”.
Ian Hunter remains at the helm of Thermo-Floor as Managing Director having been with the company for 6 years. He said, “We’re all very excited about this development in Thermo-Floor’s history. We’re moving into a new purpose built building and expanding our midlands office which will allow us to service the UK market even more efficiently than we have done to date. We will be extending our “Approved Installer” program and providing comprehensive training packages for interested Plumbers and Heating Engineers – all of which is good news for the industry as a whole”.
The under-floor heating market in the UK is still relatively untouched and with more pressure being applied across the board on energy saving, many businesses and public sector organisations are starting to look seriously at this option for heating systems both in new build and refurbishments. Schools are considering changing as the savings made on energy consumption, typically in excess of 20%, would soon outweigh the cost of installation. Then there’s the added benefit of not having any hot surfaces in the school environment to think of too.
Rob Heuperman continued, “we will be marketing the new look Thermo-Floor quite aggressively over the coming months and anyone interested in coming to see us can ‘Join the under-floor Heating Revolution’ at the M&E Building Services exhibition on November 23/24th at Earl’s Court” or visit www.thermo-floor.co.uk
