Neil Evans, Managing Director of Thermo-Floor explains; "This is possible if you already have a Thermo-Floor underfloor heating system installed with a ground source heat pump and a low temperature manifold (such as a LTS-N or a LTV-K)."
"By controlling the system so the ground water is pumped through the heat exchanger and bypassing the heat pump, the ground water will, through the heat exchanger, cool the return water from the underfloor heating system. This water is then passed through the pipes laid beneath the floor and through radiant heat exchange will cool the ambient air temperature of the room."
Callum Walker interiors of Perth, recently exhibited at The Ideal Home Show Edinburgh where they showcased Thermo-Floor next generation energy efficient underfloor heating and cooling systems.

Regulator Ofgem have enforced a 30 day notice period in advance of price increases of energy rates. This now gives the consumer time to shop around for an energy supplier as opposed to being told up to 65 days after of the price increase.
Neil Evans, Managing Director of Thermo-Floor comments; "There is nothing people can do about the rising cost of energy. It is a similar situation to taxing a car. It is impossible to ‘shop’ around for cheaper car tax but you can choose a vehicle which will reduce the amount of car tax payable. This rationale can easily be applied to energy and heating sources and appliances; heat pumps, wood chip boilers, underfloor heating systems would all reduce energy consumption and therefore decrease heating bills considerably".
Thermo-Floor underfloor heating and cooling systems are not only a more cost effective and energy efficient way of heating or cooling buildings but they can also have great health benefits too.
Neil Evans, Managing Director of Thermo-Floor explains; "With radiator systems air is convected around the room, creating drafts and air circulation. This air movement circulates dust, pollen, germs and spores. In contrast, Thermo-Floor underfloor heating and cooling systems radiate heat from the floor upwards. Thermo-Floor underfloor heating and cooling systems give a much better quality of air and virtually eliminates dust mites in carpets. Those that would notice a greater benefit are Asthmatics and sufferers of other allergies, hayfever etc; asthma attacks are greatly increased in environments where there is poor ventilation, dust circulation and dust mites in carpet. The air becomes less dry with an underfloor heating and cooling systems which in turn prevents the dryness of the skin and inflammation of the throat which can increase the onset of an asthma attack."
Thermo-Floor; supplier of next generation underfloor heating and cooling systems, believes the most valuable part of their underfloor heating systems is the knowledge on how to use it effectively.
General Manager of Thermo-Floor Ltd, Neil Evans; "Thermo-Floor has installed underfloor heating systems in several schools throughout the UK including some Building Schools for the Future projects. On completion of some of these projects Thermo-Floor conducted 'user meetings' to ensure the facility managers of the schools understand how to get the most out of the underfloor heating system to obtain optimal energy efficiency as well as comfort".
With the Government’s promise to reduce emissions by at least 80% in 2050, renewable heat is paramount in reaching this target. The Governments Renewable Heat Initiative aims to increase renewable heat seven fold within the next decade so company's like Thermo-Floor are preparing for the change.
Neil Evans, Managing Director of Thermo-Floor Ltd; "Until now renewable heating has had limited support from the Government both in the Commercial and Domestic market. The Governments Renewable Heat Initiative will dramatically increase the installation of renewable heating, for example ground source and air source heat pumps and make them more accessible financially. Thermo-Floor's unique underfloor heating systems are compatible with all renewable heat sources; ground source and air source heat pumps, wood chip boilers, bio-mass boilers and photovoltaic solar panels. We feel compatibility with renewable heat sources is principal to grow with the industry and the Governments move towards greener fuels and renewable heating targets".

The design of Peterborough’s multi million pound city hospital has delivered a better health service to the public with a home from home feeling. Thermo-Floor, contracted by Mercury Engineering, has provided the patrons of Peterborough Hospital with a more comfortable wait in the reception area with simultaneous underfloor heating or cooling.
Simultaneous underfloor heating or cooling is made possible by a manifold that provides underfloor heating using a heat source, for example a boiler, and underfloor cooling from a chiller plant. By offering this complete solution, Thermo-Floor ensures the waiting area is not affected by solar gain from the glass roofed atrium, therefore maintaining the room temperature in all seasons.
Neil Evans, Managing Director of Thermo-Floor; "Thermo-Floor were able to be part of this exciting project as a result of the research and development carried out by our team in the Netherlands to supply a unique manifold which integrates a plate heat exchanger within its design to allow simultaneous underfloor heating or cooling. It is clear the benefit of our products can meet the demanding specifications and green agenda of this industry".
Neil Evans, Managing Director of Thermo-Floor; "Thermo-Floor success at Ecobuild 2011 is testament to our next generation, environmentally conscious and energy efficient underfloor heating and cooling systems.
It has always been an interactive show, allowing us to build relationships with partners in the industry, the media and potential clients and showcase our unique products and past success. Being able to showcase our underfloor heating and cooling systems at an event where it is clear caring for the environment is paramount makes us proud as a company to be part of the show and the industry. Ecobuild is worth the investment and we look forward to returning in 2012".
